As with the Cuvée de mon Aïeul, the final blend is yet to have been made, so I was able to taste through 4 separate samples of the 2009 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve des Deux Frères. Certainly, how the blend is made will ... Rhone Report, The. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2009 Pierre Usseglio Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres 750ml

93-95 points "The limited production 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres (400 cases) is 100% Grenache aged 40% in old barrels, 30% in tank, and 30% in new oak casks. A spicy, full-bodied, powerful effort, it is built for 20+ years of cellaring. The color is a saturated ruby/purple and the nose offers up scents of camphor, toast, blackberry and blueberry liqueur, incense, licorice, truffle and spice box. The wine's concentration and superb intensity absorb the oak in a shockingly easy fashion. This classic, massive, rich Chateauneuf du Pape needs 2-4 years of bottle age and should drink well over the following two decades." Wine Advocate, #191 Oct 2010, Robert Parker 92-94 points "Vivid purple. Black raspberry, cherry-vanilla, floral oils and a note of exotic spices on the perfumed nose. Suave, vinous and very sweet, marked by a solid core of minerality that gives the wine's densely packed raspberry and mulberry flavors impressive energy and clarity. Firm tannins add grip to a very long, smoky finish." Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 11)

Bright violet color. Wildly complex scents of black raspberry, cherry compote, sassafras, allspice and licorice.
