Paolo Bea Sangiovese Blend Umbria IGT San Valentino 2006
This 2006 Paolo Bea “San Valentino” red wine from Umbria is the best value in Montefalco. While it’s definitely a more fruit driven wine it’s still light in weight. We fancy it the lighter version of Bea’s Montefalco Riservas. Cherry fruit jumps from the glass with the typical notes of leather and tar that accompany all the wines from this region. It’s not going to age as well as some Montefalco so consider drinking it sometime within the next 5 years.
We recently had this wine with a fantastic dinner at Spadaro Ristorante in New Rochelle, NY. Wonderful!
Food Pairings for Paolo Bea Sangiovese Blend Umbria IGT San Valentino

Pale for a red wine, this wine is surprisingly dry and woody, which are usually associated with darker reds. A very balanced flavor that harmonizes with subtle notes of sweetness and oak from the barrels in which it is matured. Great with red meat, pasta, and cheese.
