Panther Creek Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Winemaker's Cuvée 2005
Beginning with the 2000 vintage, Winemaker's Cuvee is our only blended Pinot noir. This cuvee is a fusion of six Pinot noirs from the Willamette Valley selected for their richness, complexity, and structure. The blend for the 2005 vintage of Winemaker’s Cuvee is Bednarik Vineyard (28%), Lazy River Vineyard (28%), Shea Vineyard (22%), Freedom Hill Vineyard (15%), Vista Hills (4%), and Youngberg Hill Vineyard (3%). It has a nose of black cherry & blue fruit, smoke, and coffee, while on the palate it exhibits bright forward sweet fruit flavors of cola and red cherries. The 2005 Cuvée is a fruit forward yet structured young wine with a nicely developed mid palate and lengthy finish. This wine will drink well young but also has the structure to age gracefully.
This is the true sense of Oregon Pinot and Shea vineyard. Nose is full of funk and earth. Lots of earthiness and layers of red and black cherry. Good acid and nice balance. Nice to taste an American wine with 13% alcohol with great flavors.
Another example of a great everyday Pinot from Oregon. Too bad they don't do much distribution but this is a classic Oregon Pinot that reminds you of a Burgundy without the premium.
I didn't love this wine but found it interating and distinctive. Definitely on the earthy side with a bit to much funk and aluminum for me.
Nice tasting, but the nose was ugly. Harsh leather and earth. I've had much better pinots.
Absolutely delicious. Great on its own or with food. Pricey, special occasion wine first enjoyed on my 40th birthday.
