Owen Roe Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton District the Kilmore 2011
This Yamhill-Carlton AVA blend of two vineyards represents the 2011 vintage well. With the cool temperatures and late harvest, we are very pleased with the concentrated spice found in this bottling of 'The Kilmore'. Aromas of pine, red raspberry and coffee are a lovely approach to the old world-like flavors of cherry cola, pepper and tobacco. The toasty nuances and firm tannins will aid in long-term cellaring from now through 2021+. Barrel aged 10 months in French oak (36% new; 18% one-year-old; 46% neutral). Alcohol 13%. 280 cases produced. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 92 points by International Wine Cellar: Bright ruby-red. A sexy, perfumed bouquet evokes candied red and dark berries, cola and potpourri, with a smoky topnote. Offers sweet black raspberry and cherry-cola flavors and a silky, palate-coating texture. Packs a serious punch and finishes with impressive vivacity and spicy persistence.
Since our first vintage in 1999, Owen Roe winery has been working to produce exceptional, hand crafted wines. We are especially committed to the low vigor hillside vineyards of Yakima Valley Washington. These vineyards yield fruit with low pH and high acidity, both harbingers of age-able wines.
