Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

At the Mud House, they craft wines using a combination of technology and traditional winemaking methods with the courage to do things their way. Mud House nurture their vineyards throughout New Zealand so that our grapes reach optimum ripeness, ensuring varietal character and flavour. Harvest commenced 10th April in our Bendigo vineyard. After arriving to the winery the grapes were gently destemmed allowing whole berries to remain intact. After a five day cold soak, each parcel was fermented separately, with a combination of wild and cultured yeast. Each batch was hand plunged to extract the vibrant colour, flavour and delicate tannin structure. Each parcel was then pressed separately to a mix of new and used French oak barrels or remained in tank. In the spring after completing Malolactic fermentation each parcel and tank was tasted and blended. The ' Central Otago Pinot Noir' shows a deep crimson red colour. On the nose it has bright red fruit flavours with a burst of spicy notes. Generous flavours of cherry and currant combine with subtle oak on the palate. The silky dry tannins lead to a generous fruitful finish.Superb with duch and orange salad .

Little mocha, red fruit, spicy stem, wonderful fresh herbal edge, very pretty aromatics. Super vibrancy in the mouth, ripe, red fruit, zesty and brilliant, succulent, exciting texture.
