Merryvale Red Bordeaux Blend Napa Valley Profile 2009
Bursts on the palate with an exciting array of black fruit, smoke, tar, licorice and grilled herbs. It is a muscular wine endowed with considerable depth and richness, but despite its obvious size, all of the elements are in harmony.Add winemaker's notes
an incredible bordeaux blend, acidic levels present with layers of dark berry fruit, raspberries, ripe black and bosenberries combined with currants and dark cocoa
- Tasted at Wine Spectator New World Wine Experience 2010
Lovely berry and floral tones. Silky smooth on the palate. Great red fruit flavors and good tannin. Nice flinty graphite in the finish. - Tasted at winery 12/30/10
This wine is much heavier and higher in tannin than the 2007. Still a very nice red blend, but missing some of the rich elegance as this is a much bigger, bolder wine. Time may prove friendly. - Tasted at winery 12/30/10

Shows opulent aromas of blackberry, cassis, sweet mixed berries, perfume and black tea along with vanilla, baking spices and toasty oak. The texture is broad and mouth-filling with mature tannins and exceptional length.
WA 94pts. - WS 93pts. - According to the Wine Advocate: Another big-time winner, the 2007 Profile (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec) may be the finest wine I have ever tasted from Merryvale. It exhibits an opaque purple color along with classic tobacco leaf, black currant, spicy oak, chocolate, licorice, and graphite characteristics, a big, full-bodied mouthfeel, and tremendous depth, persistence, and length. This proprietary red should continue to put on weight, and last for 15-20 or more years. Very impressive! This is an impressive group of wines from Merryvale Vineyards, a winery whose offerings I have not tasted for many years. According to the Wine Spectator: A classy wine that's firm, intense and complex, showing vivid, well-structured blackberry, wild berry and currant fruit, with touches of anise, loamy earth and black licorice. Ends with a lingering mix of berry...

Merryvale's flagship Bordeaux Blend, Profile is produced only from the best grapes from the Merryvale Estate Vineyard (St. Helena Appellation), the Beckstoffer – ToKalon Vineyard, Georges III and Vineyard X. This 2004 is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 7% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 94 points and said "Merryvale’s Profile remains a star year after year. The ’04 is nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon, and stuns with its power. With a smooth, complex tannin structure, it’s rich in currants, blackberries and cedar, but is too young to open now. Should hit its stride around 2010 and continue to develop for some years after. Tasted twice, with consistent results." Limited!!
