Merlot. Tall Horse 2011

Member Review by Rico Lopez:

Tall Horse Merlot 2008, has everything there is to expect from a merlot, however, the south african region allows it to give colour surprises, texture appealing and a great after taste flavor.

Much like these majestic creatures, the wines have made the journey from South Africa to far off lands. The giraffe is symbolic of their environment, eccentric location and their way of drawing curiosity and wonder. The idea is these wines would draw the same curiosity and reward the consumer with a taste of quality wine. The grapes for the wines are grown on the slopes of the Cape Mountains, benefiting from plentiful sunshine and cool ocean breezes for balanced grapes.  Read less

2008. Dark satin colour, a little opaque around the edges. Not much of a nose, some fruit but undefined. Some plum notes on the palate. A little dry, decent on the mid palate but very sharp on the back end. Would probably work as a pizza wine. Quite drinkable but unremarkable.

This is a wonderful Merlot that my wife loved. Good fruit and full mouth feel.
