Martinborough Vineyard Pinot Noir Martinborough Martinborough Terrace 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Tight, touch of powdered cherry sugar, wood, spice, hint of age, rich, broad and high, great inner mouth perfume, wild cherry, plum, herbs, a touch of meaty extract, superb tannin ripeness, powerful but still retiming a sense of delicacy, really fine drive to the cherry fruit on the backend, finishes with rich flavor and continuing delicacy of texture.

The event, held in Sydney, is an exclusive competition for a hand selected range of the very best wines from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Internationally acclaimed wine writers and judges Bob Campbell MW of New Zealand, Huon Hooke of Australia and Michael Fridjhon of South Africa selected the best wines of each variety from their own country. The judging is then done blind by the three selectors along with Chairman of judges Robert Joseph, to rate the wines in their order of preference. Read less

The 2006 Pinot Noir is endowed with a fabulous, mineral-rich nose, superbly defined with touches of strawberry and boysenberry, the palate very concentrated yet very well-defined with vibrant acidity, ebullient red-berried fruits and a svelte, silky, sophisticated finish. Its quality shines through this lovely wine that should drink over 3-5 years. This is another icon of New Zealand, whose wines helped put their Pinot Noir on the international map.--Neal Martin of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Martinborough fruit vinted in small lots using traditional French methods and barrel aging. This wine displays an abundance of flavor, primarily strong berry fruit with a touch of spice... the quintessential Pinot Noir. Considered by many to be Australasia's best Pinot Noir.

Delicious, deeply layered Pinot Noir with loads of lush, dark cherry fruit and a complex mix of briary, freshly picked berries, earth and plums. Excellent balance and length makes this wine a candidate for aging, but it is really hard to resist now!

Ripe in flavor, smooth and refined in texture, with pretty currant and blackberry flavors segueing into a crisp finish where the flavors sail nicely. Drink now through 2003.

Smooth and earthy. Integrated tannins. Damsons, cherries and raspberries. Smooth. Warm finish. Mulberry hints.
