M & R Moscato D Asti

Member Review by lilmslady101:

This is a perfect, bubbly wine to make any occasion feel special. Tons of bubbles, but with enough flavor to not disappear the minute it is swallowed. To me, it is a near-perfect balance of sweet, just a tad bit of tart, and very small bubbles bursting which accent the flavor. I think it is best served very chilled and enjoyed right away, as it loses its best traits as it is held in the glass. Perfect toasting wine for parties, which everyone should enjoy.

Martini & Rossi is an iconic Italian brand of wine and vermouth, founded by Alessandro Martini and Luigi Rossi in the mid 1800s in Turin. In 1863, they produced their first vermouth, a blend of herbs and botanicals in fortified wine, which was met with instant success in the Piedmont cafes where it was introduced, during what became “aperitivo hour.” Eventually the brand expanded internationally and continued to grow throughout the 20th century. Of course, anyone who was around in the 1970s and 80s is familiar with the ubiquitous Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante ad campaigns, which introduced a worldwide audience to the slightly sweet style of Piedmontese sparkling wine. Their vermouths (available in rosso, blanco, rosato and extra dry) continue to be favorites as aperitifs and in cocktails, a go-to bartender favorite. In addition to the Asti Spumante style, they also produce dry Prosecco, sparkling rosé and a popular off dry Moscato.  Read less
