Lustau Solera Reserva Dry Amontillado Sherry Los Arcos NV
Winemaker's Notes:
A textbook Amontillado of great maturity. Naturally dry and soft, its palate gives a hint of wood and smoky raisins. A powerful and distinctive nutty bouque. Better Amontillado would be difficult to find. Awarded Silver Medal at IWC 2005. Drink as a warming apéritif. Serve slightly chilled. Alcohol:18.5% by volume. Grape Variety:Palomino Fino.

Add your reviewBottled March 9th 2007. 100% Palomino Fino. Amontillados begin life as finos or manzanillas, but the flor layer is either naturally or intentionally destroyed, so the fino wines become exposed to oxygen while in the solera system. Beautiful tawny brown color which is similar to older tawny ports. Aromatic nose of roasted nuts, dried raisins, a little sweet tobacco. Medium to full bodied, 18.5% abv, good acidity, rich nutty finish with a slight perception of sweetness but finishing completely dry. Not to complex and I would prefer it better if it were a little fresher but a good solid amontillado none the less. 3/5

This very affordable Sherry offers a terrific combination of freshness in its walnut and iodine notes and the caramel-molasses component derived from oxidation, making this vibrant Amontillado a winner. Delicious nut and molasses aftertaste. Drink now.

The dry, medium amber-hued non-vintage Dry Amontillado Los Arcos offers good body as well as a heady personality.

Reticent aromas of almonds and limestone give way to this winersquo;s generous flavors of green apple and a subtle touch of orange zest. Itrsquo;s all shaped by spritzy, mouthwatering acidity. Best Buy.

Light and approachable, with the soft texture of dry white wine, this offers freshness, salinity and soft, nutty touches. For pickled sardines.

A classic dark Amontillado for soup or marrow on toast, this wine tastes of roasted bones, of tangerine and almond oil, of fresher fruit, like the flesh of pear. The dark, unctuous character parallels Madeira, but itandrsquo;s both fresher and more pleasingly bitter in a Sherry sense.
