This attractive red has classic scents of franc — tanned leather, capsicum and sweet red cherry. The flavors are focused on darker plum, with a vinous, bark-like accent and texture that feels balanced.
I actually love both the Cab Francs from Lamoreaux Landing, but the T23 gets special recognition for its unoaked, fruit-driven style that stands apart from many of the more traditional herbal and spicy examples from around the Finger Lakes. This wine is a terrific alternative to Beaujolais or a Spanish Garnacha, and makes an excellent picnic red.
