Lambert Bridge Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Rockpile Ridge 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Nestled on a ridge top high above Lake Sonoma, our Rockpile Zinfandel comes from a small vineyard that is on the western facing slopes. Maybe all those sunsets, the red dirt, rocks, and some very steep hillsides is just what the vines need to produce fruit that is very distinctive and special. As with all of our Zinfandels at Lambert Bridge, the clusters arrive at the winery in small bins and without delay, are moved onto our custom sorting equipment. It can take all day to sort through five tons of grapes, first on our cluster sorter, across our shaker table, and finally onto a berry sorting belt. From there, a two day cold soak, 100% whole berry fermentation, nine months in French oak, and a thousand steps along the way before reaching the bottle, we created a wine true to this distinctive vineyard. When the wine is poured in the glass, aromas of black cherries and dried cranberries are the first impressions. Supple and plush textures, sweet oak, white pepper and savory spices round out the experience. Be adventurous and drink a glass tonight with Asian style pork ribs or grilled lamb chops.
