Notes on the Krupp The Doctor Meritage 2005 : WINEMAKER NOTES: Deep Garnet in color with a purple rim. Exotic aromas of Satsuma plums, spice, orange rind, cassis, black raspberries and Logan berries harmonizing with anise, cloves and vanilla. The palate is fresh and lively with focused intensity. Flavors of jasmine, lavender, black cherries and pomegranate contribute to a deliciously bright mid-palate with cedary oak leading to a long savory finish. Krupp Brothers Estates:
The hunt to find unrivaled vineyard land led Dr. Jan Krupp high into Napa Valley’s eastern hills to a harsh mountain site, strewn with rocks and choked with chaparral, straddling Pritchard Hill and the Atlas Peak appellation. A physician with a green thumb and a passion for great wine, Krupp purchased a 41-acre property here in 1991 and began clearing the land for his new vineyard.

Good ruby-red. Black raspberry, smoked meat, mocha and brown spices on the nose. Fleshy and sweet but with an enticing juicy quality to the slightly reduced flavors of bitter cherry, dark berries and smoked meat. Finishes round and long, with lingering sweetness. A very successful blend.

Dark, intense and concentrated, with mineral, currant, dark chocolate, cassis, licorice, strawberry and cherry flavors. Polished and balanced for such a big wine, with a long finish. Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Drink now through 2012.
