Kangarilla Road Shiraz Mclaren Vale 2006
Wine Spectator Review Rated 90 Firm in texture, showing a sweetness and suppleness under the tannins that lets the racy blackberry, cherry and spice flavors come through beautifully. The flavors last on the deftly balanced finish. Best from 2011 through 2017. Wine Tasting Notes Crimson with red hues, ripe, dark berry fruits with plum and hints of dark cherry integrated with nuances of oak and spice. Full, long flavored with red and dark complex fruits finishing with soft tannins.
FAB fruit bomb, with a huge blast of raspberry and mint that seemed to last for days on the finish. Strong, velvety and super potent. If you are in the mood for vino with the kick of a Hawaiian Punch Very Berry juice box, it's perfect.
The beautiful dark red color was noticed right away and I could smell the fruits as soon as the pour was made. The flavor was velvety and smooth with a bit of snap. Normally not a fan of Syrah, but I will try anything. This was recommended by a server at an upscale restaurant and I found it wonderful, This is not a really bold wine but would stand up nice to most red meats and some chicken dishes. Will seek out again!
