Judd's Hill Petite Sirah Lodi 2008

External Review:

Wine Enthusiast ReviewRated 89Better known as a Napa Cabernet house, Judd's Hill has produced this old vine Petite Sirah, and it rocks. Juicy and ripe, it offers a huge blast of blackberries, cherries, red currants, blueberries, cola, sweet leather and cinnamon spice. The tannins are very thick but very finely ground, which gives this massive wine elegance.Wine Tasting NotesThese old vines really bring out the rich flavors of the Petite Sirah grape. Think ripe blackberry pie with back notes of cinnamon and other baking spices. The color is intense, the nose is concentrated black fruit, the mid-palate has some flashy exotic spicing and the tannins are balanced. What more could you want? For food pairing, rich red wine based sauces over pasta provide an effortless paring for Petite Sirah. But exotic game meats like rabbit, venison sausage and pheasant really make this wine resonate. Another perfect pairing is curried chicken with mango chutney. If you are a cheese lover, any aged cheeses like Cheddar, Gruyere or our local Aged Dry Monterey Jack are lovely with our Petite Sirah.
