Red raspberry, rhubarb, and smoked meat pungently scent Chateau des Jacquesandrsquo;s 2009 Morgon cuvee, then come to a saliva-inducing and tartly-invigorating palate andmdash; one of this estateandrsquo;s 2009 that seems to defy the vintage norms andmdash; leading to a vivacious finish in which white pepper, salt, smoked meat, and herbs alternate with sappy, snappy red fruits. There is a hint of extraneous wood resin that needs to integrate, and this is one 2009 that could benefit from putting on a bit of fat andmdash; which might happen andmdash; but is already a delight and sure to remain so for at least 3andndash;4 years
Bright ruby. High-pitched aromas of red berries, spicecake and herbs, plus a hint of cracked pepper. Spicy, incisive red fruit flavors show a bitter edge and pick up a smoky quality in the mid-palate. Tannins build with air and add definition to the firm, spicy, very persistent finish. This wine will age.
