Jacob's Creek Pinot Grigio 2010
Vinification Method Pinot Grigio is a contemporary wine style produced from the Pinot Gris grape variety, which is closely related to Pinot Noir. Pinto Grigio has distinctive grey blue colour as the fruit ripens, and therefore was monitored very carefully during the ripening phase to ensure that the flavour was optimized, while limiting excessive colour development. During the summer months of 2007 the Winemakers spent numerous hours in the vineyards identifying quality parcels of Pinot Grigio fruit to achieve the desirable flavour profile for this initial vintage release. Great effort was taken at each stage to retain and maximise the natural varietal flavours produced in the vineyards. Harvesting was carried out in the cool of the night, the grapes immediately delivered to the winery, where they were destemed, crushed and pressed to minimise skin contact time. Once the juice was removed from the skins, clarification fermentation was carried out with selected yeast strains at cool temperatures to preserve the delicate varietal flavours. The 2007 Jacobs Creek Pinot Grigio is a lively easy drinking wine style which will ideally accompany fish and white meat dishes.
Editorial Reviews for Jacob's Creek Pinot Grigio
Sweet pear on the nose with hints of damp flowers and a touch of banana peel. Nice and bright up front with a nice touch of bitter lime pithiness adding some depth to the apple and pear fruit on the palate. This is nicely rounded without being soft or sweet, the great acidity assures a clean finish and lends a mineral edge to the appley finish that sees a flash of orange rind on the finale. This is a thoroughly decent bottle of Pinot Grigio and at the price it is a steal. 12ABV 86pts
Getting lemon curd and fresh citrus aromas on this one. The palate is quite tart and a bit astringent, but while it's simple it's pleasing with a bit of cream on the finish and a warming sensation in the belly afterwards. That last bit is not really a tasting observation, just a general observation.
Bright warmly acidic nose of apples and pears, some chalkiness. The attack has notes of honey sweetness, strong acid in the mid-palate which carries through into the finish, strawberry fruits on the end. Light, floral, and drinkable, with a good body.
a zippiness on the nose (if that makes sense), some nice citrus and green apple notes, refreshing
Sweet pear on the nose, very citrusy on the palate with a little minerality. For fans of lemon lime seltzer.
Light smells of peppercorn, pears and apple Smooth buttery texture, but not too soft. Not at all sweet. Taste hints of apples and lemon, with a bit of acidity. Best wine you are going to get for the price. Perfect for light dishes and maybe even a light pasta dish with pesto sauce.
Citric, strong flavor of lime. Floral hints. Refreshing, smooth. A nice wine.
Loads of pear on the nose, but the finish is very citric, almost bubbly, with granny smith apple and some earthy notes at the end. Really nice wine for the cost.
