Hop Kiln Red Blend Russian River Valley Rushin' River Red 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

The classic Rhone partners Grenache and Syrah are blended to Hop Kiln’s Rushin’ River Red. The Grenache offers delicate aromas of strawberry to balance the forest floor character and deeper cedar flavors of our Syrah. A full bodied wine perfect alone or paired with grilled red meats or tomato based pastas.

From planting, growing and harvesting to crushing, processing, bottling and labeling, our award-winning HKG Estate wines are a result of the meticulous care given to the fruit by vineyard manager David Smith merged with a progressive vision for what ends up in the bottle from rising star winemaker Chuck Mansfield. HKG Estate Wines come exclusively from fruit grown on our 250-acre estate located amongst the Russian River Valley’s finest producers. We are geographically blessed with a variety of soil types and microclimates that allow for vast differentiation and an array of flavor profiles even within blocks of the same varietals. Our first release was the 2006 bottling of HKG Estate Pinot Noir, and we’re proud to have garnered consistent acclaim and high marks in successive vintages from reviewers including the Wine Spectator and the PinotReport. Today we make 5 different varietals: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Rosé of Pinot Noir and our newest creation Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir, Read less

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

This is a great big red wine, that has tons of flavor, but not too many tannins like some other big red blends. Loads of dried fruit flavors, with subtle spice undertones! Definitely something to save for a Barbecue or a nice steak dinner.

Complicated blend: Syrah (37%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Zinfandel (23%) and Dolcetto (10%). You can taste the individual varietals - fleshy syrah, the cab's structure, the spice from the zin and , well, maybe I cant pick out the Dolcetto!
