Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard Late Harvest Riesling 2012
Crafted in the traditional Spatlese style, the Late Harvest presents yet another approach to this classic variety. Additional time on the vine allows the grapes to fully develop their flavor profiles. The later picking also helps sugars to consolidate, resulting in a sweeter full bodied wine. An appropriate level of alcohol helps to make this wine delicate and approachable with a moderate level of residual sweetness. Honeyed citrus and green apple accent the nose, while peach and apricot float across the tongue.

Bright, with yellow apple, white ginger and white peach notes, laced with honeysuckle and carrying through the elegant finish. Relies more on finesse than outright sweetness, and maintains good energy. Drink now through 2017.

Powerful, full-bodied Riesling with a beautiful sweetness that accentuates the rich fruit flavors; citrus, peach and apricot all shine through with a nice minerality and a strong acidity. Has enough sugar and acid to be enjoyed over the next 3–4 years. I look forward to the evolution.
