Set in the western hills of Oakville, rising above the tabled Napa Valley benchlands, the estate is over 240 acres of natural .splendor; oak-studded knolls and valleys, roughly fifteen percent of which are under vine, planted to the classic varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdoc. But more than that it is a family homestead; a place of great inspiration, carved from the raw land, built for generations.

Wine Advocate ReviewThe bottled 2003 Harlan Estate is as good or even better than I had hoped. With a dark ruby/purple color, silky tannin, and abundant quantities of licorice, graphite, chocolate, espresso, black currant, truffle, and earthy characteristics, it comes across like a hypothetical blend of a top-notch Pauillac and Graves. Superb texture, low acidity, and gorgeous purity as well as richness suggest it will drink well for two decades or more. Drink 2006 - 2026.
