Great cuvee for the price! -Tasted at the winery 9/21/09
After letting the wine sit for a few minutes in the bottle, the smell reminds you of the hoppy scent of beer. The smell is fresh and light, but the flavor is much more intense than that. The inital flavor is smooth, but the taste of the sun on the almost ripe grapes is extremely apparent. The aftertaste is pleasant and lingers in a light fashion. The color is reminiscent of plums and peaches, though this wine would accompany a sirloin or ribeye very well.
Dark, soft, chalky fruit with a hint of cocoa and petroleum in the nose. Medium-heavy in texture with a richness on the palate, also good depth of flavor and some cinnamon spiciness. Spice and tannin on a rich, long finish. Slightly acidic but still balanced. Nice pair w/ steak tartare.
Soft fruit, sweet.
