Girard Winery Sauvignon Blanc St. Helena 2011
Auge: fades Gelb; Nase: reichhaltig, fruchtig und ausgeglichen; Gaumen: nach Pfirsich, Aprikose und BirneAdd winemaker's notes
Citrus and melon aromas and flavors. Light and refreshing, fleshy on the finish.
Pear taste with less acidity than most sauvignons; neutral feeling about it overall
classic sauvignon blanc aromas on the nose - pear, grapefruit, and melon. crisp, less acidic than most. medium bodied. very easy on the palate.
I really like the 2009 Girard Sauv Blanc. It is not my fave sauv blanc, but an excellent drinker, and will pair with a wide variety of foods. The expected grapefruit is there, but subdued. Subdued is how I would call this SB. There is a hint of pear, and some mineral. It is not your typical grapefruit/over the top SB. But there is a complexity here, that develops in layers as you taste. A bit lighter than other sauv blancs. recommend.. good food pairing.
