Tightly wound and well-focused, with spicy blackberry, leather, anise, mocha and mineral flavors, finishing with a rich aftertaste and firm, integrated tannins. Drink now through 2009.
Ripe and complex, with high-toned cola, blackberry, cranberry and wild berry flavors that are elegant and refined, finishing with good length and ripe, integrated tannins. Drink now through 2008.
Ruby-red. Plum, red currant, cedar, tobacco, loam and a lightly vegetal quality on the nose. Supple and sweet, with flavors similar to the aromas. A somewhat undifferentiated, simple wine but one with adequate acidity and good balance. Finishes with rather smooth tannins.
The aroma reminded us of plums, juicy, bright fruit and smoked ham, with notes of garlic and several spices, including clove. It had a lush texture that "makes you want to take another sip," one of our tasters said. Easy drinking and well balanced.

There's an ashy, sage and thyme edge to this ripe young Merlot that actually adds interest to the cherry, blackberry and cranberry aromas and flavors. The wine is voluptuously rich, almost decadent, so ripe is the fruit and so fine are the tannins, but it never loses its dry sense of balance. Very Bordeaux-like in elegance.
Ripe, firm and focused, with a red currant and cherry core. Lingers on the finish, picking up spicy toasted oak notes. Tannins are firm but well integrated. Drink now through 2005.
