Freixenet Cava Brut Nature Vintage Reserva 2009
Freixenet is one of the most renowned and largest cava houses in Spain, similar in quality, size and importance to France's Moet & Chandon. Since 1861, Freixenet's cavas have been made in the classic méthode champenoise tradition, a difficult and lengthy process, but worth the effort to produce those beautiful tiny bubbles. This was quite a nice cava. Nice soft nose with some notes of butterscotch. Not quite enough bite on the palate for me but the butteriness continued right through the mouth. Not aware of the value as it was a gift.
Tasted this cava with some blinis. It is dry enough to go with maincourse and it has nice balanced taste. Not overly sparkling but has sufficient amount of bubbles. Balanced.
