Situated in the tiny village of Sorbo Serpico in Campania's Irpinia region, this highly acclaimed estate was established in 1986. Along with the expert guidance of consulting enologist Riccardo Cotarella, one of Italy’s most esteemed winemaking talents, Feudi di San Gregorio has emerged into the international limelight as a great success story in a region that, for many years, was locked in a virtual winemaking holding pattern. Feudi di San Gregorio has aggressively tapped into the enormous potential of Campania's unique terroir and ancient varietals by placing a thoroughly modern spin on indigenous grapes such as Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Aglianico. Feudi di San Gregorio sources its grapes from the finest vineyards set in the rolling hills of the Irpinia region, located in close proximity to Mount Vesuvius. The volcano's legendary eruptions have laden the sandstone and marl soil with mineral-rich deposits of volcanic ash, forming a unique composition that imparts highly distinctive aromas and flavors in the grapes. Recognizing that a keen understanding of climatic conditions is indispensable to the successful cultivation of vines, Feudi di San Gregorio has invested extensively in state-of-the-art winemaking technology. Each of the estate's vineyards is equipped with a solar-powered meteorological station that gathers data continuously. By closely monitoring the environment, the estate is actively practicing eco-compatible viticulture, thereby reducing the need for artificial methods to an absolute minimum. Further embracing the benefits of technology, construction was recently completed on a modernized cellaring facility. A $20-million investment, it has the capacity to house an impressive 5,000 barrels. Read less

Campanaro 2005 - 90 Points, Wine Enthusiast/ This Fiano-based wine offers the generous pear and peach aromas often associated with this native grape from Campania plus its trademark structure and caressing consistency (is is oak aged for six months). But what sets it apart is the elegant manner in which these elements are brought together.

Campanaro 2010 - 92 points, Wine Enthusiast/ The two grapes that represent the pride of southern Italian winemaking—Fiano and Greco—are blended here to produce a creamy, rich white wine that will pair well with steamed lobster or crab. Beautifully balanced sensations of acidity and spice appear on the long finish.

Campanaro 2009 - 89 points, Wine Spectator/ A fresh, floral white, with zesty character to its green melon, spice and light underbrush notes that linger on the chalky finish.

/ This relatively young estate in Campania has come along in recent years with a very consistent range of wines mostly focused on indigenous varieties. Quality is especially remarkable considering the large number of bottles produced. The 2006 Campanaro (Fiano and Greco) reveals a lovely richness to its texture, with outstanding depth and pretty notes of ripe peaches, green apples, minerals, smoke and mint that flow effortlessly from the glass.

/ The estate's 2007 Campanaro (Fiano and Greco) is a sweet, honeyed white that reveals notable clarity and depth in its ripe, perfumed fruit and spiced French oak. The wine reveals good length in a round, supple style.

/ Made from equal parts Greco and Fiano, Campanaro is Feudi's flagship white wine and exhibits fleshy tones of mature peach, honey and pear. Thanks to its crisp acidity, it would make an idea companion to cheesy pasta dishes. A wonderful wine overall.

/ Campanaro is one of the best white wines from southern Italy and offers a fail-proof guarantee for pairings with all fish and white meat dishes. The wine is smooth and creamy with pretty mineral tones and ripe notes of vibrant fruit and yellow rose.
