Produced with Candida, Parolise and Sorbo Serpico grapes, Fiano di Avellino has an intense straw-yellow colour with greenish shimmer. The aroma is intense and persistent. Distinct Mediterranean scents of fresh chamomile flowers and fruit – from a local peach variant to a more complex candied orange. The characteristic smooth notes of the grape are balanced by a lively freshness and mineral hints.

Situated in the tiny village of Sorbo Serpico in Campania's Irpinia region, this highly acclaimed estate was established in 1986. Along with the expert guidance of consulting enologist Riccardo Cotarella, one of Italy’s most esteemed winemaking talents, Feudi di San Gregorio has emerged into the international limelight as a great success story in a region that, for many years, was locked in a virtual winemaking holding pattern. Feudi di San Gregorio has aggressively tapped into the enormous potential of Campania's unique terroir and ancient varietals by placing a thoroughly modern spin on indigenous grapes such as Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Aglianico. Feudi di San Gregorio sources its grapes from the finest vineyards set in the rolling hills of the Irpinia region, located in close proximity to Mount Vesuvius. The volcano's legendary eruptions have laden the sandstone and marl soil with mineral-rich deposits of volcanic ash, forming a unique composition that imparts highly distinctive aromas and flavors in the grapes. Recognizing that a keen understanding of climatic conditions is indispensable to the successful cultivation of vines, Feudi di San Gregorio has invested extensively in state-of-the-art winemaking technology. Each of the estate's vineyards is equipped with a solar-powered meteorological station that gathers data continuously. By closely monitoring the environment, the estate is actively practicing eco-compatible viticulture, thereby reducing the need for artificial methods to an absolute minimum. Further embracing the benefits of technology, construction was recently completed on a modernized cellaring facility. Feudi di San Gregorio, a modern expression of a centuries-old tradition of passion and dedication to the land, is Campania’s premier winemaking estate. Situated in the tiny village of Sorbo Serpico in Campania's Irpinia region, this highly-acclaimed winery was established in 1986. Since then, it has aggressively tapped into the enormous potential of Campania's unique terroir and ancient varieties by placing a contemporary spin on indigenous grapes such as Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Aglianico. Throughout its short yet prolific history, the estate’s proprietors have cultivated Campania’s finest vineyards and worked closely with some of Italy’s best enologists. The results have been remarkable — the wines of Feudi di San Gregorio meet time and again with stellar reviews and consistently garner international critical acclaim. Production Area The communes of Candida, Parolise and Sorbo Serpico in Campania. 15 – 20-year-old vines are grown between at 650 - 1,650 ft above sea level. Grapes are grown with 4,000 - 4,500 vines per hectare in moderately deep, slight to moderately calcareous on the surface and calcareous at deeper level soil. Grape Varieties 100% Fiano di Avellino Vinification Grapes are harvested in early to mid-October. Immediately following harvest, grapes are de-stemmed and undergo a gentle press followed by cold settling at 57°F for 24-48 hours. Fermented in stainless steel between 61 - 64°F. No malolactic fermentation. Color Intense straw-yellow with greenish highlights. Bouquet Lovely bouquet of fresh peach and candied orange, with floral and mineral notes; gains further complexity after one year in the bottle, developing notes of hazelnut and resin. Taste Medium-bodied with tropical fruit flavors, a lively freshness and mineral hints. Alcohol 13.5% Serving Suggestions Enjoy with chicken and turkey entrées, fish and grilled vegetables.

Fiano di Avellino 2010 - 89 points, Wine Advocate/ The 2010 Fiano di Avellino is rather subtle at first, until the aromas and flavors blossom on the mid-palate. Ash, minerals, cured meats and juicy peaches are some of the nuances that emerge from this rich, textured white. There is plenty of complexity and personality in the glass in this typical, benchmark Fiano from Avellino.

Fiano di Avellino 2009 - 4+ stars, Restauant Wine/ The Fiano is refined in character (violet, lemon oil, lime, roasted nut), full bodied, smoothly textured, with good balance and length. It finishes with some floral spiciness, reminiscent of rose petal and white pepper.
