Fetish Wines Red Rhone Blend Barossa Valley Playmates 2008
The classic three-way of the wine world, Fetish Playmates brings together Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvedre... And they enjoy being together. Each plays a role. Each gives and takes. While each brings her own identity, the edges blur. It becomes difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins. They become one and create a wine that is the definition of balanced.
A real gem, especially for the price. Complex aromas and taste, with a nice finish. Not very spicy for a Shiraz -- more fruity (dark berries) with some earthy accents to give it the complexity. A sipping wine rather than a food wine IMO.
Excellent example of Barossa Valley Shiraz. This wine drinks way beyond its price. Picked it up for $15 and am really impressed. Would put it in the same class as Two Hands. Deep purple in color. Big, fat, jammy fruit with a thick silky body and a nice long finish. All woven neatly and tightly without going over the top on fruit. If you're looking for a solid value and a good representation of the area and style, I highly recommend it.
Upon first impression, this was dynamic. More wine made it a little unbalanced, and it definately made me conjested. It did not open up after a day, either. For a $20 price point, it was a little disappointing.
Very nice, rhone blend, deep jammy flavors. Wonderful finish.
Fantastic! Love the wine - going to buy a case!

Smooth, ripe and decadent. Not a big wine, but distinctive and focused on its smoky blackberry, cherry and charred meat flavors. It all lasts nicely against fine tannins. Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache. Drink now through 2016.
The 2006 Playmates is composed of 92% Shiraz, 5% Mataro, and 3% Grenache. Opaque purple-colored, it exhibits aromas of toasty oak, leather, lavender, and blueberry. This leads to a medium to full-bodied wine with plenty of ripe fruit, excellent depth and concentration, soft tannins, and a long finish. It will evolve for 3ndash;4 years but can be enjoyed now.
