Fanucchi Trousseau Gris 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Fruity, smooth, rich, complex with nice spicy clean finish. Only California producer of this fun flavorful white. Really beautiful little wine.

This is truly a hidden treasure from Russian River Valley. Great with any food. We love it by the BB-Q. While it has complexity & Great Boquet. it is refreshing & clean!

While I was tasting lots of big Zinfandels last week & was told to try this white wine any way. Wow! This wine, thought crisp, refreshing, & clean has the character & gusto to cut through a heavily pepper coated tongue.

The nose was a bit fruity with hints of herbal essence. Overall a good wine. A bit boring after the second glass and it could use a bit more balance, but a decent wine

The wine is past drinking...it lacks crispness on the whites I aspect. I am willing to try a newer vintage, but it is way past drinking....White wine is about freshness....

This is a stellar wine. It's refreshing & clean whill delivering a peachy boquet & lightly spicy finish. Compare the nose to a Marsane, the body to Sauvignon Blanc... NO Butter & No Oaky Vannilla! This Wine even satisfies the "red wine only" folks too!

It's still Fresh aromatic & tasty! and I found the 2005 Trousseau Gris in a Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board store at bargain!

crisp, clean, flowery bouquet, fresh PEACHES, honeysuckle, pear, melon & delicate spice and tropical fruit flavors make it a delightful compliment to a wide array of foods! Compare its “Nose” to Viognier or Marsane, with a gentler spice than a dry Gewürztraminer and far, far, more fruit than the best Pinot Gris could hope for! Not only does cold, gentle handling preserve the fruit & it’s bouquet, but often retains some of it’s natural effervescence-CO2-which also keeps the wine a little fresher & can show more bubbles then most still wines.

This is great - what a find!! The bouquet on this wine is just that. A lovely aroma of peaches, orange flower water, and honeysuckle. I love the tartness on my palate, and the hint of oranges and peaches that carries through. For a varietal that is not well known, I think Fanucchi is really impressing here.

Trousseau Gris isn't a commonly found wine in the states. Fanucchi Vineyards is keeping the candle burning with this great alternative to more commonly found whites such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The nose is a crazy blast of peaches and a little floral component, and the taste follows suit. Great peach flavors with a touch of orange rind hit your palette and the finish is sweet fruit and a not-unpleasant penny flavor. For the price, this is a great rare find to get your hands on!
