Falesco Assisi Rosso 2010
External Reviews for Falesco Assisi Rosso
Falesco is the family winery of the Cotarella brothers, Renzo and Riccardo, both influential winemakers in their own right. This is their blend of sangiovese with merlot and cabernet, a red that’s full and plump in the middle, earthy on either side. It holds some elegance in its tannins, which are tarry without feeling aggressive. For roast duck.
A medium- to full-bodied version, with juicy acidity backing the ripe black plum fruit. Hints of tobacco and spice add range to the finish. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now.
The 2010 Assisi Rosso shows terrific energy and verve. Dark cherries, herbs, smoke, new leather and licorice meld together in the glass. This is another terrific value from Falesco. The Assisi Rosso, a Sangiovese/Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend is one of the more interesting of the recent additions to the range. Anticipated maturity: 2013–2015.
