Eagle Eye Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2005
Eagle Eye 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the first to showcase fruit from the famous "AlphaWOLF Ranch." The addition of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot provides that deep purple color and layers of complexity with a bouquet of red ripe fruits. ripe raspberries, dark cherries and black currants fill your mouth with that first sip. A hint of vanilla from the French oak barrels shows up in the long lingering finish.

This is a really solid Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon without the outlandish price-tag. The nose is classic, wafts of leather, dark cedar, tobacco and black cherry. Flavors of black currant and unsweetened chocolate are dominant with a nice rich soil component. The finish lingers nicely. In these economic times, it is nice to know that you can still get the flavors and structure you're looking for in a Napa Valley Cab without having to shell out $600 for a case.
This wine was a delight! What started out as more of a floral nose (complete with rose petals and other flowery smells) blew off to reveal more of black cherries and cedar. The flavor profile had unsweetened chocolate, some earthy minerals in addition to black currants. A wine with a variety of complexities and layers to discover without being over the top, try this as a great gateway into Napa Valley cabs in all their glory.
