Domaine Jean Pascal Puligny Montrachet "Les Enseignéres" 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

The accomplished producer Jean Pascal has once again created an elegant and delicious burgundy from her vineyards in Les Enseigneres. And in this great vintage the wine has an extra dimension. Get it while it lasts."This effusive white delivers apple, lemon and honey flavors, matched to a firm structure. Leans toward the in the balance, yet persistant on the finish. Drink now through 2018." –Wine Spectator

Though this wine is still super-young, the sophisticated complexity and perfect balance of tropical fruit and creamy oak are already well evident. A much more traditional vintage, the 2010 is leaner and the fruit is more crisp and fresh, rather than ripe. Expect this one to age gracefully for several years. Food pairing: pasta, poultry, seafood Flavor type: traditional Body type: medium Finish: elegant

Domaine Jean Pascal is a small-producer in the Côte de Beaune that specializes in mostly white wine. This well-made single-vineyard Puligny Montrachet is very light in color, but not in flavor, and sees very little new oak. For under $45, this wine is one of the reasons I love the 2010 vintage in Burgundy: a little more tension in the wine and a little less plumpness. This effusive white delivers apple, lemon and honey flavors, matched to a firm structure. Leans toward the alcohol in the balance, yet persists on the finish. Drink now through 2018.
