Domaine de Mourchon Côtes du Rhône Villages Séguret Family Reserve Syrah 2009

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

The color of the 2009 Seguret Grande Reserve (a blend of 65% concrete-aged Grenache and 35% oak barrel-aged Syrah from 60-year-old vines) is not dissimilar from the Syrah cuvee, a deep ruby/purple with blue tints. It boasts a stunning bouquet of kirs... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2009 Domaine de Mourchon Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret Grande Reserve 750ml

Set between the picturesque village of Séguret and Mont Ventoux, Domaine de Mourchon was established by the McKinlay family in 1998 with the purchase of 17 hectares of mature vines. Constructed to the highest modern standards, the new winery was completed in 2000. Our TERRACED HILLSIDE VINEYARD, at an average altitude of 350m, is predominately clay and grey limestone which, combined with its microclimate, gives this location a terroir of unique quality. Careful husbandry using natural and organic techniques - ‘culture raisonée’ as it is known in France - in conjunction with combined traditional and advanced methods of vinification, results in a well structured wine with pronounced fruit aromas and strong colours. Saturated, opaque purple hue from core to rim. Heady aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, ink, graphite and spice box. The dark berry motif continues on the palate, with bold strokes of flavor and a fleshy, full mouthfeel. Secondary notes of garrigue,... Tracey Rose. This is quite young, with rich, velvety layers of fig sauce, raspberry preserve and currant paste layered with gorgeous bittersweet cocoa, violet and anise notes. The long, dark finish is weighty but pure. Impressive. Syrah. Drink now through 2014. 2... Wine Spectator. The most dense and concentrated of the lineup, the 100% Syrah 2009 Domaine de Mourchon Family Reserve, which was aged primarily in smaller oak barrels, is inky purple/black in color and delivers a rich, intense bouquet of blackberry, smoke, licorice,... The 2009 Seguret Grande Reserve is stunning. Dense ruby/purple, with viscous, glycerin-imbued flavors of roasted herbs, pepper, and oodles of black cherry liqueur, this wine is full-bodied, opulent and generously endowed. Quite a beauty, it should co... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2009 Domaine de Mourchon Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret Grande Reserve 750ml

The most dense and concentrated of the lineup the 100% Syrah 2009 Domaine de Mourchon Family Reserve which was aged primarily in smaller oak barrels is inky purple/black in color and delivers a rich intense bouquet of blackberry smoke licorice and graphite to go with a full-bodied textured and layered palate. Seamless and pure with grippy tannins coming through on the finish this still has some oak to integrate and will benefit from short term cellaring. Give bottles 2-3 years in the cellar and then drink over the following 5+ years or so. Rhone Report The.

Saturated black/purple core with a dark violet rim. Bursting with chocolate aromas followed by a melange of black fruits including plum, black cherry, boysenberry and currant, there is a hint of anise on the nose as well.
