Domaine de Coussergues Sauvignon Blanc Vin de Pays d'Oc 2011

External Review:

The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits more fig, grapefruit, and tart lemon-lime notes in a light to medium-bodied, crisp style that is classic Sauvignon.

The light-bodied, fresh 2008 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits melony fruit intermixed with honeyed citrus and a hint of dried herbs. This winery does a much better job with white wines than reds. All four of these offerings are crisp, fresh, lively, aromatic whites that are best consumed over the next 6-12 months.

Pale straw hue, with delicate citrus fruit and honeysuckle aromas emanating from the glass. Crisp and vibrant, with the kind of zesty acidity that makes this so food-friendly. The perfect wine to serve with steamed clams, crab legs or white fish in lemon-basil sauce.

Pale color with green hints. Powerful, complex, floral (honeysuckle) and fruity (peach, passion fruit) nose. Well-balanced; a rich, fresh wine.

This Sauvignon from the Languedoc of southern France brims with the bright, zesty flavors of lemon grass and tart apple. Its taste is clean and balanced with lively acidity and a crisp finish.

Domaine de Coussergues was founded in 1495 by a land grant from Charles VIII, and is owned by the Baron Arnould de Bertier and his family. Arnould represents the 13th generation of the Sarret de Coussergues family to run the estate. This lovely Sauvignon Blanc is pale yellow in color. Flavors dance on the palate with hints of honeysuckle, peach and passion fruit. The wine is well balanced, round and fresh. Serve with fresh oysters or shellfish.
