Rich black fruit aromas of blackberry and bramble fruit. Flavors are full with candied plum, fresh blackberry compote, cassis, blueberry and a hint of toasty oak. The concentrated flavors follow through to the long finish.

Subtle on the nose with a nice blend of earth, peppery spice, oak and briar. Moderately light on the palate with a round, slightly viscous yet seamless mouth feel. The fruit is decidedly red here with gentle vanilla and spice accents that turn a bit chocolaty on the back end, where it gains a light touch of herb. The finish turns more focused with the coffee-toned wood becoming obvious, though this remains balanced and elegant with a fine sense of restraint. Old school Claret-style Zin. 88pts

This should be for the 2012 Zinfandel, however, despite 2 attempts to list the wine, it remains a Pinot... Not a bad little number, had with a dinner at Perry's in Dallas. good complexity and not an overabundant fruity Zinfandel.

A bit funky on the nose with hints of bright red berries. Extremely soft in the mouth with some flecks of cocoa plant. A lot going on here with the alternating acidity and juiciness. I love the satiny feel!

Vanilla, blackberry, and cherry in the nose, with a decent balance of acids and tannins in the mouth - very smooth. Didn't find it to be that interesting, but very drinkable.

For years now Duckhorn Vineyards has produced a Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend under the Decoy label, and Duckhorn fans have been able to enjoy Duckhorn quality at a great price. Because Duckhorn has access to the best growers and the finest quality fruit in the region they've expanded the Decoy line to include varietal wines. This is their 2013 Pinot Noir that they've sourced from 16 different prime vineyards in Sonoma. Each lot was vinified separately and the wine was aged for 7 months in French oak barrels, 25% new. It shows distinctive Pinot character with notes of black cherry, strawberry, cranberry and cola on a beautifully balanced and vibrant framework. Hints of vanilla and spice linger on the finish. Duckhorn does it again!

For the second year in a row, Decoy has released one of the best values in Zinfandel of the vintage. This year, Sonoma County is source to the grapes, and the wine shows classic wild berry, cola, anise, pepper and sandalwood avors.
