Dashe Zinfandel Dry Creek 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Dashe Cellars Dry Creek Zinfandel is a classic example of a Dry Creek Zinfandel: elegant, balanced, and layered with loads of fruit flavors and a velvety, voluptuous texture. The trademark characteristics of zinfandel from this area are in abundance - black raspberry and cassis fruit, mineral and earth, and clove and black pepper spice.

Tight, earthy and pure on the nose with beautiful spice notes, a little peppery and licorice, and a gently smoky note adding savory detail to the core of cherry fruit. There’s almost a candied herb thing going on here. Light easy going, and all raspberry and strawberry fruit on entry supported by soft tannins and juicy acids lending this a silky smooth mouthfeel. Not a powerhouse, just supple and fresh Zinfandel with lovely spice notes on the moderately long finish. 90pts

Very easy drinking Zinfandel. Lots of tart raspberry and cherry on the tip of the tongue. Some "saltiness" (?) also, but it diminishes. Some mushroomy things. Medium-bodied, light for a Zin. Looking forward to having this with grilled chicken breasts, tonight. US$18.95 at NapaCabs in Chino Hills.

Sleek but racy, offering raspberry and spicy dill aromas, with tart cherry, sage and mineral flavors that acquire tannins on the finish. Best from 2015 through 2020. 3,829 cases made. -TF ws 89 Bright purple. Spicy aromas of redcurrant, cherry, pipe tobacco and mint; reminds me a little of cabernet. Tangy and vibrant on the palate, with flavors of tangy red fruits, bitter cherry and mint. Finishes with a cool, medicinal aspect and dusty tannins, leaving a zesty red fruit note behind.
