Darioush Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the Darioush Napa Valley Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 : CONNOISSEUR'S GUIDE REVIEW: 93 POINTS Once again, Darioush races to the top of the listings with a big, rich, hedonistically overachieving Cabernet, but unlike last year's 3-star winner, this one is somewhat tighter and age-demanding than its predecessor. It is in the nature of the 2005 vintage that it seems to produce somewhat less lush, plush wines, and there are those who will applaud and those who will miss the genuine juiciness of Darioush's 2004. By comparison, this wine seems to have a foot in two camps, but that only makes it a bit different rather than less desirable. Connoisseurs Guide, April 2008NVWE NOTES: As in the past, the 2005 Darioush Cabernet is a richly oaky wine of heady-ripeness. The aromas are of rich plum and Mulberry fruit, tied to smoky-toasty vanilla and baking spice scents. It is predictably blod and juicy on the mid-palate, with Cassis, cherry, berry, earth and plenty of vanilla all lingering well. Built for steaks, rich stews and roasts, it will get softer and a bit more elegant over the next three to six years. WINEMAKER NOTES: Enticing aromas of vanilla bean, blackberry and crme de cassis introduce this bold, yet harmonious wine. A rich and well-focused palate is endowed with layered flavors of wild black cherry, plum and espresso. An elegant and generous finish is accented by delicate hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and spice box.DARIOUSH NAPA VALLEY SIGNATURE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2005

We had this at a restaurant and both agreed that it did not taste like a cab. Tasted to me like a Petite Sirah -- a very good, deep, dark and spicy one.

Deep dark color along with dark fruit. Cassis and blackberry accented with exotic spice notes of clove and cardamom. Bold and aggressive, this wine needs food.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine ReviewRated 93Once again, Darioush races to the top of the listings with a big, rich, hedonistically overachieving Cabernet, but unlike last years 3 star winner, this one is somewhat tighter and age-demanding than its predecessor. It is in the nature of the 2005 vintage that it seems to produce somewhat less lush, plush wines, and there are those who will applaud and those who will miss the genuine juiciness of Darioushs 2004. Because this wine seems to have a foot in two camps, we see more to like in the 2004, but there is no reason not to like this one as well.Wine Tasting NotesEnticing aromas of vanilla bean, blackberry and creme de cassis introduce this bold, yet harmonious wine. Intense, with firm tannins wrapped around a tight core of dried currant, anise, sage, cedar and mineral flavors. This has excellent structure, depth and focus, and it's so dense and closed now that cellaring is best advised. Best from 2010 through 20... Wine Spectator. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2005 Darioush Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Signature 375ml
