Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2000
External Reviews for Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
(Barrel tasting) A ripe, grapey sample, offering pure currant and blackberry fruit and little in the way of oak at this stage. Tannins sneak up on the finish. Shows depth and complexity.
The deep ruby/purple-colored 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up aromas of minerals, licorice, acacia flowers, blackberries, and cassis. Tannic, medium-bodied, and tightly-knit, with a long finish, potential buyers are forewarned that it will require considerable cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016.
Wonderful fruit purity, with floral, plum, grapey currant and black cherry, well-focused, with firm tannins.
Impressive for its core of rich, chewy currant, blackberry, wild berry and cedary oak flavors. It packs a wallop, too, with its dense, chewy tannins, but on the finish the fruit pours through to reveal lots of depth and complexity. Best from 2006 through 2013.
The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up sweet scents of raspberries, red currants, a touch of black fruits, spice, licorice, smoke, earth, and dried herbs. This attractive, medium-bodied, moderately tannic 2001 will benefit from another 1-3 years of bottle age, and should drink well for 10-15.
What a treat. this is the quintessence of Oakville Cab, with an impressively firm structure, ripe tannins, smooth, supple mouthfeel and long, spicy finish. and what fruit! Scads of rich cassis, chocolate and oak, yet thoroughly dry. Drink now through 2012.
The Cabernet Sauvignon in 2002 and 2003 both mirror the Maya, with the 2003 more ruggedly constructed, slightly more tannic, and bigger, but without the charm and near-term appeal of the more flamboyant, extroverted, silky-textured 2002. Both wines are capable of lasting 15 years. with the 2002 being drinkable immediately and 2003 needing 3-4 years of bottle age.
