Clos Erasmus Grenache Blend Priorat 2010
96 points Josh Raynolds (Int'l Wine Cellar): Opaque ruby. An intensely perfumed bouquet displays scents of black raspberry, redcurrant, Asian spices and incense, with slow-building floral and mineral qualities. Sweet, concentrated and polished, with silky texture and noteworthy intensity to its sappy red fruit and violet pastille flavors. Finishes sweet, spicy and extremely long, with relentless flavors of red berries, minerals and candied flowers. This wine's blend of power and finesse is something else. (Sep 2012)
External Reviews for Clos Erasmus Grenache Blend Priorat
The 2010 Clos Erasmus was made in the same way as the 2009, but in my opinion it already demonstrates more precision and terroir on the nose. There is tangibly great tension and poise here, with filigree tannins all the way to the finish. There is a ... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Proprietary Blend wine from Priorat in Spain. 2010 Clos Erasmus 750ml
Producer Daphne Glorian discovered forgotten hillsides in Priorat that were originally terraced by the Ancient Greeks. She now makes miniscule quantities of her Priorat wine, Clos Erasmus here. Rich and perfumed, with an intense underlying mineral intensity, this wine will blow you away.
A rare and outstanding Cabernet/Merlot blend from high in the mountains of Spain's Catalonia region. Steep slopes and volcanic soil contribute to uncommonly low yielding grape vines that produce intensely concentrated fruit. Painstakingly harvested by hand and aged in new French oak, this is exceptional red wine - rare and delicious.
A Proprietary Blend wine from Priorat in Spain. 2006 Clos Erasmus 750ml
As usual Clos Erasmus is one of Spain's finest wines. The 2006 Clos Erasmus offers an ethereal bouquet of balsam and sandalwood, incense, liquid mineral, black cherry, and black raspberry. Dense, rich, and voluptuous on the palate, it has plenty of well-concealed ripe tannin, and potential complexity. Give it 5-7 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2015 to 2025. As great as it is, it is not quite as complete as the 2004 and 2005 vintages.
Opaque dark purple hue. Full-bodied. Highly extracted. Quite tannic. Earth, black fruits. Complex, earthy, woody aromas follow through on a solid, well-extracted mouthful of dry flavors, with drying tannins clamping on the finish. An underlying sense of mineral gives this an extra dimension.
