Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois Chapoutier 95rr 2010
"The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois, which comes from the Bedarrides sector of Chateauneuf du Pape, reveals flamboyant aromas of licorice, Christmas fruitcake, loamy soil, black cherries, black currants and raspberries. This spicy, peppery, earthy, exotic, full-bodied, super-rich 2010 is slightly more structured than the superb 2009. It begs for several years of cellaring, and should drink well for 15 or more....94" WA 10/12 Saturated ruby. Exotically perfumed scents of candied red fruits, lavender pastille and Asian spices. Closes sweet and long, with resonating spice and floral notes...92-94" IWC 2/12 "A 100% Grenache cuvee that is aged all in tank for 14-16 months, the 2010 M. Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Croix de Bois is a gorgeously perfumed, complex wine that boasts knockout aromas of wild flowers, violets, black cherries, loamy earth, and loads of Provencal spice and herbs. While more fruit forward and upfront than the Barbe Rac, the purity and class here is something. Full-bodied, rich, and concentrated on the palate, yet with an elegant suppleness that makes you want to pour another glass, this classic 2010 has the fruit and texture to be enjoyable now, yet will have no problem evolving for 15-20 years...95" RR 10/12
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.
