Château Tirecul la Gravière Monbazillac 1994

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

The 1994 La Graviere Vendange Tardive possesses a fabulous, intense perfume of exotic fruits and honey, an amazing richness, purity, and a level of concentration and balance that must be tasted to be believed. It is capable of lasting from 10-20 years. Sadly, only 50 cases were produced for the world.

A remarkable rarity which allows a slow ripening, retaining the complexity and the finesse of the aromas and tastes. The soil is argilo-calcaire with sand here and there. The hard limestone is present in the higher tiers which are mainly given over to dry white. The steep slopes of Terecul allows for excellent drainage. Its disposition and the abundance of clay favour the retention of the autumnal mists which are indispensable for the development of noble rot. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Lots of blanched almond, lemon and biscuit character, picking up maple syrup, honey and fruit flavors. Medium-bodied. Fruity finish. Drink now.

Like ambrosia, this unique dessert wine delights the senses and satisfies the sweet tooth. The wine is as golden as sunshine, featuring wildflower honey, cinnamon and apricot aromatics that explode from the glass. The fruit is endowed with considerable weight but nicely balanced. Pour a glass, cut up some fresh fruit and enjoy a little piece of heaven on earth.

The 1995 Monbazillac exhibits a deep golden color, an orange marmalade, tropical fruit-scented (pineapple and coconut) nose,m super-extracted, awesomely rich, pure, and well-delineated flavors, full body, an unctuous texture, and dazzling length. This amazing wine should evolve for 15-20 years.
