Chateau Laville Haut Brion 2009

Member Review by Robert Parker:

This utterly mind-blowing effort from Laville-Haut-Brion, with its decadent bouquet of honeyed, super ripe melons, figs, and toasty new oak is a real turn on. In the mouth, the wine is stunningly rich, concentrated, and intense, with a texture more akin to a Grand Cru white Burgundy than an austere white Graves. Acidity is low and the alcohol level is high, suggesting this wine will have to be drunk in its first 10-15 years. For pure power, as well as a sumptuous texture, this may well be the most dramatic Laville-Haut-Brion ever produced. Production was tiny; only 900 cases were made.

Off the list at Gramercy Tavern. Didn't take a good note on the color- Nose was candle wax and epoisses- awesome!- palate had real grip and forceful acidity with some warmth (not alcoholic)- wonderful stuff that is a treat with food.

(79% semillon and 21% sauvignon blanc) Light straw-green. Initially reticent nose needs coaxing to reveal aromas of orange blossom, lemon and minerals. Enters the mouth bright and fresh, with citrus and mineral flavors of sneaky concentration, but co... Stephen Tanzers IWC. An absolutely staggering vintage for this historic and tiny estate, this 2006 has a huge nose of tropical fruit, including pineapple, as well as a liqueur of minerality, with quince, white citrus, and a hint of subtle toast. Full-bodied, with huge co... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blanc wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Laville-Haut-Brion Blanc 750ml

( 580) Very lemony with hints of vanilla and cream on the nose. Reminds me of a baby grand cru Burgundy. Full-bodied showing lots of coconut and toasty oak character with lemon curd on the finish. A bit ponderous and thick now but flavorful and structured. Powerful and layered. Best after 2011. 500 cases made. Wine Spectator.
