Chateau de Sancerre Cuvee Connetable 2004
Wine Tasting Notes Pale gold in color with silver highlights. Elegant and complex. Roasted notes and gingerbread dominate the first nose underpinned by subtle vegetal notes of tobacco leaf and cigar. Nuances of vanilla surface once the wine is allowed to breathe, with candied fruit and quince paste dominating. Rather soft at first giving way to fleshiness and firmness. On the palate, flavors of fruits (quince, apricot) dominate with an underlying touch of vanilla. Nice length. We recommend decanting this wine before serving.
Château de Sancerre, built in the 10th century by the Count of Champagne, is the most prestigious property in Sancerre, and the only one that can use the Château de Sancerre name. Its sought-after hillside vineyards have been attached to the Château for centuries. The classic estate bottled wines exemplify Sancerre’s sophisticated minerality & bracing acidity.
