Chapoutier Ermitage l'Ermite Blanc 2010
"From the very top of the granite dome of Hermitage, the 2010 Ermitage L’Ermite Blanc is absolutely remarkable. One hundred percent old-vine Marsanne, this wine tastes like a liqueur of crushed rocks with hints of lemon and white peach oils, buttered brioche, wet steel and gun flint. With floral notes as well as such an intense minerality, this thick, unctuously textured wine still has remarkable acidity...98-100" WA 12/11 "Light yellow-gold. Pungent aromas of dried pit fruits, white truffle, smoky minerals and iodine. Deep and mouthfilling, with a tactile quality and explosive peach, pear and floral flavors. Expands impressively on the back half, showing velvety texture and excellent focus on the smoky, relentless finish. This complex, palate-staining wine could do some damage in a tasting of grand cru white Burgundies...94-96" IWC 3/12
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.
