Chante Cigale Chateauneuf du Pape 2011

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Moving to the reds, and a beautiful 2011 that shows the best of the vintage, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape offers up loads of Asian spices, kirsch, ground herbs and cedar in a medium-bodied, sweetly fruity and balanced package. Complex and already drinking great, it should evolve gracefully for 8–10 years. Drink now–2021.

Vivid ruby-red. Emphatically fruity aromas of fresh raspberry, cherry compote and redcurrant, plus a complicating note of white pepper. Lush and silky on the palate, with a plump raspberry quality and a seamless texture. Pliant and tannin-free, with a sweet red berry tone defining the finish. This is drinking really well right now. There was no Vieilles Vignes Chateauneuf bottling this vintage so all that juice is in here, which no doubt accounts for its intensity and quality.
