Castello Vicchiomaggio is a grand wine estate in the Greve Valley of Chianti in Tuscany, Italy. The estate has existed since the early 15th century, having served as a Florentine defense fortification during feuds with neighboring Siena in the middle ages, and with its fair share of distinguished guests over the centuries. Most famously, Leonardo da Vinci stayed at the castle while painting his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa. Besides offering luxury accommodations, Castello Vicchiomaggio produces a broad range of wines from traditional regional styles to modern IGTs. Villa Maggiore is their Super Tuscan range produced in the Maremma by the Matta family. They also produce grappa and olive oil.
