I visited this winery last September while on tour of Florence. I highly recommend taking this easy and relaxing day trip out into the Tuscan hills. My time and money was well spent and I consider this side trip to be one of the highlights of my time spent in Florence. Our bus tour consisted of 40 people and everyone was in awe of the whole tour, from the History of the Castle to the products Castello Del Trebbio has to offer. The landscape was right out of a postcard and the special host that greets every tour is a legend around the world to anyone who has taken this tour. Our guide was a family member and of course, very knowledgeable about every aspect of wine making and the historic nature of the Castle. After our tour was complete we all sat down to a unforgettable spread, appetizers and wine tasting of the products Trebbio. From the olive oil to the sampling of their white and red wine, all get five stars in my book. My mistake was that I did not send a mixed case of each home, instead I left with a bottle of their exquisite EVO and one bottle of Chianti Rufina Reserva. Both of which, luckily, made it home after being carried through Rome and Sicily. I highly recommend a visit to this most welcoming winery, don't forget to check out their website. Read less

Made from Merlot and Syrah grapes from the heart of the Chianti Rufina region, this wine is intense and persistent on the nose with hints of pepper and balsamic vinegar. It is long and lingering in the mouth with a powerful tannic structure. Ideal with spicy lamb dishes.
