Castello Banfi 2007
Special comment by the wine maker: The 2007 vintage is characterized by an unusual balance between power and elegance. Tasting Comments: Intense dark red color. On the nose this wine is complex with hints of red fruits as well as more spicy notes of liquorice and leather. Gentle on the palate, but at the same time particularly powerful and with a long finish and great structure.

Approachable, but i like a Chianti, with a bit more body and acidity
Needs several hours to settle down before its enjoyable. Overall still a decent Rosso. $15 BM
Exceptionally smooth, cherry on the nose, cherries, red currents, light oaky vanilla notes. Great with food! Castello Banfi almost always produces very nice drinkable wines.
Light, smooth wine. Enjoyed this with some parmesan pork chops and mashed potatoes. It was delicious!
Good $11/glass Carabas
One of my favorites so far. Bursting with a slightly sweet fruity flavor, just a hint of spicyness, low acidity and a smooth finish.

Smooth and stylish, this Chianti is meaty as porcini and fattened up with dark fruit flavors. It's sophisticated in its plush texture, though it hasn't yet lengthened out into complexity. Enjoy it over the coming year with long-cooked meats and murhroom dishes.
A fine performance in a difficult vintage, this wine is peppery and soft with cherry and roasted chestnut scents. For pasta with mushrooms.
Aged in wood for over two years, this is a an elegant, complex, and tasty red. It would enhance the flavor of steak, roast lamb, or aged Pecorino or Cheddar.
There's an appealing earthiness under the ripe black cherry fruit in this wine. It grows more savory with air, gaining freshness and length from the bright middle. Firm and balanced, it's a good match for grilled hanger steak.
Toasted wheat bread, bacon and clove add interest to the nose, which is robust and loaded with black fruit. The palate is complex enough to trigger some intrigue: Cinnamon, butter and licorice support the dark fruit nicely. The finish is smoothly textured, and there's an airy quality to it. Quite meaty and solid, with a firm core.
Cherries, strawberries and a hint of mint follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with spice, vanilla, and berry character. Long finish. Slightly lean, but focused and fine. Drink now.
