Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley Reserve 2010
Creamy, yeasty, butterscotch-y aromas that quickly reveal ripe peach and yellow apple fruit scents layered with nutmeg and cinnamon spice notes. Full-bodied, round and extremely rich and creamy on the palate, the wine marries lush apple, peach and crème brulee flavors with refreshing mineral tones, culminating in a long, lively finish buoyed by bright acidity and a hint of citrus zest. Beautifully structured, this should age beautifully in bottle for another 5-7 years.
Cakebread Cellars is located in the heart of the Napa Valley on Highway 29 between Oakville and Rutherford. Family owned and operated for 36 years, we pride ourselves on making full flavored, balanced and elegant wines.
Very nice chard with good fruit and clean, crisp acidity. Excellent balance.
I had this as part of a Cakebread tasting with food pairing that I won! This was a wonderful chardonnay. It was toasty and smells like fresh butter. Lightly oaked, it was silky creamy smooth although it had a slightly bitter end. The sad part is that the food pairing of mango salsa salad was not that good. The red onion a little over powering and the tomatoes was too much acid that cut the smoothness. Otherwise, mango was a great idea! Not a big Chardonnay drinker, but this was smooth and enjoyable.

Cakebread Chardonnay boasts an attractive light golden-straw color and fresh, lightly buttery, ripe golden apple, pear and citrus aromas, complemented by seductive vanilla and cinnamon/nutmeg scents from oak aging and subtle yeast tones from lees contact. Lush, concentrated and creamy on the palate, its ripe apple, melon, bright citrus and baking spice flavors culminate in a long, beautifully structured finish boasting crisp acidity and zesty mineral and spice tones.
Serves up an appealing mix of earthy citrus, ripe pear and green apple flavors that are well-focused and unobstructed by oak. Finishes with a rich, clean aftertaste. Drink now through 2009.
Perfumed aromas of ripe pear and white peach lead to a grainy youthful edge. This is most impressive where it should be. The finish unveils delicate fruit notes. Drink now through 2019. -JL Wine Spectator. A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2010 Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay 750ml

Give this fine Chard some time in the bottle to knit together. Tasted at about one year of age, it was a little disjointed, but the parts are quite good. The flavors of pineapples, Meyer lemons and golden mango need time to integrate with the butterscotchy, caramelly oak.
