Bodegas Ochoa White Blend Navarra Viura Chardonnay 2011
Bodegas Ochoa was founded in 1370 and was the personal winemaker for the King of Navarra and his royal court for nearly 500 years. Bodegas Ochoa is family owned and operated, and all of their grapes are grown in their estate owned vineyards. This dry white wine was selected from the best vines of Viura and Chardonnay from the vineyards in Traibuenas and they have waited for the optimum ripeness before harvesting. Fresh, vibrant and fruity, with a refreshing acidity on the palate. A small amount of Moscatel (7%) was added which provides characteristic aromas and floral notes.
A pale gold/Clear lemonade color. Nose of rubbing alcohol with pear and sweet tart, maybe a little ammonia. A citrus/acid palate with a medium finish, but hot finish, very acidic.
Great entry-level Spanish white. Viura is balanced well with chard, and what smells like a little moscato (although the label doesn't say that there's any in there, I'm pretty sure there is). Great price- an affordable summer drinker!
