Beaujolais Nouveau 2011

External Review by Palm Bay International:

Burgundy represents, for many, the epitome of world-class winemaking. Standing amongst the most historic Burgundian houses of this famed French region is Labouré-Roi. Established in 1832, this forward-thinking winery is today one of the appellation’s most successful and prolific producers with wines distributed to over thirty countries worldwide and annual sales revenues in excess of $70 million. Labouré-Roi’s winemaking facility is indeed one of the more technically-advanced within the region, with a cellaring capacity of 1,300 barrels. This supplements an impressive 16th century cellar, which is still used for storage and aging of select bottles. Located in Nuits-Saint-George, Labouré-Roi has long been committed to making world-class wine accessible to all. To that end, it currently works with an impressive one hundred growers throughout nearly every major winemaking region of France, from regional appellations and the most celebrated Burgundy villages, to superlative Premier and Grand Cru vineyards. Beaujolais Nouveau is released the third Thursday of November every year (one week before Thanksgiving). It represents a taste and celebration of the new harvest! Production Area Beaujolais, Gleizé and Graves, France Grape Varieties 100% Gamay Vinification The grapes are vinified with semi-carbonic fermentation and go through a 7-day maceration period. Malolactic fermentation follows quickly after to help reduce the acidity and increase the roundness of the wine. Beaujolais Nouveau is bottled shortly after. Color Deep bright red Bouquet Aromas of violet and small red fruits such as redcurrant and raspberry Taste Harmonious with concentrated flavors of small red berry fruits and soft tannins Alcohol 12.5% Serving Suggestions Always serve slightly cool. Delicious with cold cuts, pâté, turkey, chicken, light meats, and soft creamy cheeses. A great wine for Thanksgiving! Drink young.

The House of Laboure-Roi dates back to 1832, when it was founded in the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges by Monsieur Laboure and Monsieur Roi. Twenty-two years earlier Monsieur Claude-Joseph Bonnet establised what was to become a thriving silk company in the city of Lyons.
